How We Can Work Together

Counselling

If you’re feeling the weight of life’s challenges, I’m here to offer support and guidance on your journey. Navigating difficult roads or coping with trauma can be overwhelming, but seeking counselling is a brave step toward healing.
It’s not uncommon to feel unsure about starting counselling, and sometimes it’s the encouragement of a loved one that leads us to take this important step.
People decide to seek couselling for many reasons, including:

Emotional Well-Being

– depression
– anxiety

Trauma & Recovery

– history of sexual assault
– domestic and family violence
– childhood abuse, neglect or abandonment
– other trauma-related impacts
– chronic pain related to impact of trauma

Sleep & Mental Health

sleep troubles and/or recurring nightmares

Neurodiversity

autism or other neurodiversity-related challenges

Parenting Support

Together, we’ll explore which modalities work best for you; tailoring the approach to meet your unique needs. Your safety is our top priority, and I am committed to creating a secure space for your healing journey.

Natural Dreamwork

Deeply experiential in practice, Natural Dreamwork steps away from interpretation. Instead, together we seek to bring your dreams to life.  Explore the deep transformation possible from attending to the part of our lives that is all too often undervalued.

Working with your dreams can help to clarify waking life conflicts, bring a new or wider awareness to areas we feel “stuck” and expand our emotional range, among other benefits. Persistent nightmares can contribute to mental health issues and studies have shown that treatment with dream work has been helpful in alleviating the frequency and impact of nightmares.

Kimberlee has been a lifelong dreamer herself, and is a Natural Dreamwork practitioner-in-training. Natural Dreamwork was founded by Rodger Kamenetz, a poet and author of The History of Last Night’s Dream. She has also completed training with other Dreamworkers such as Robert Moss, Toko-pa Turner, Christopher Sowton & Leslie Ellis.

“A dream ignored is like a letter unopened” ~ Middle Eastern proverb

“It is fruitless to waste your time trying to understand an external situation unless you also identify the psychological patterns within you that affect it. And it is towards those patterns that your dreams usually point.” ~Robert Johnson

Sensorimotor Art Therapy

Experience the profound connection with your inner self and body as we delve into the transformative practices of Guided Drawing, Clayfield work and other sensorimotor art therapy practice.

These creative practices, developed by experts like Cornelia Elbrecht, Johanne Hamel and Cathy Malchiodi, are highly effective in addressing the impacts of trauma and navigating challenging life experiences that have left their imprint.

We can access inner subjective sensations and the emotions within these sensations through art therapy exercises. Through this work it’s possible to gain access to right brain memory of traumatic experiences implicated in the perpetuation of some traumatic reactions, and facilitate communication of these experiences either verbally or through our body working with the clay, for example.

Kimberlee brings a wealth of expertise, holding a Certificate in Initiatic Art Therapy from the Institute of Sensorimotor Art Therapy (ISAT) founded by Cornelia Elbrecht. She also holds a Certificate in Art Therapy from the College for Educational and Clinical Art Therapy (CECAT) and has completed a Certificate in Somatic Strategies with Linda Thai.

Whether you’re navigating trauma or seeking support for challenging experiences, these creative practices can offer a path towards healing and meaning-making in your life.

“The spontaneous movement in all of us is toward connection, health, and aliveness. No matter how withdrawn and isolated we have become or how serious the trauma we have experienced, on the deepest level, just as a plant spontaneously moves towards sunlight, there is in each of us and impulse moving toward connection and healing.” ~Aline LaPierre & Lawrence Heller

Rest assured in the guidance provided by Kimberlee, a skilled Circle of Security Parent Facilitator and experienced Theraplay practitioner.

“When we see a behaviour that is problematic or confusing, the first question we should ask isn’t “how do we get rid of it?” but rather “what is this telling us about the child?” ~Mona Delahooke
